Boone County announced on Apr. 16 that Stratford Gravel will begin hauling gravel to various granular roadways throughout the county, starting Monday, April 20, depending on weather conditions.

The project aims to improve driving conditions on several local roads by resurfacing them with new gravel. This work is part of routine maintenance to ensure safer and more reliable travel for residents and visitors.

According to the announcement, gravel hauling will first take place from the County Pit located at 285th and Opal Lane. This phase is expected to last between five and ten days, depending on weather. Once this portion is complete, Stratford Gravel will move operations to the Lowmen Pit on Moingona Road, likely beginning in the first week of May.

The final stage of hauling will be from the Leininger Pit situated on 150th Street in Harrison Township. All gravel hauling operations are anticipated to conclude by the second week of May.

Officials advise drivers to use caution when approaching areas where gravel is being placed on roadways.
