Boone County Conservation Board seeks seasonal aide for Swede Point Park

The Boone County Conservation Board announced on Mar. 19 that it is accepting applications for a full-time, seasonal Park Aide position at Swede Point Campground and park in Madrid, Iowa.

The job opening is important as it supports the management and maintenance of local parks, wildlife areas, and trails during the busy summer season. The role also helps ensure that visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience at county-managed outdoor spaces.

According to the announcement, applicants must be at least 17 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in all weather conditions. Candidates may need to pass a background check and drug test. Experience with outdoor equipment such as mowers, trimmers, skid loaders, tractors, chain saws, and hand tools is preferred.

The seasonal Park Aide will work under the general supervision of the Director and direct supervision of the Swede Point Park Ranger. Duties include mowing, weed eating, cleaning facilities, maintaining park grounds, interacting with visitors, public relations tasks, and other assignments as needed. The aide may also assist the county Naturalist with recreational or educational programming when required.

This temporary position runs from approximately May to September and will not exceed 40 hours per week. The wage is set at $15 per hour. Applications are being accepted until the position is filled.
