Boone County announced on April 16 that annual contract gravel hauling operations are scheduled to begin at the Lowman Pit south of Moingona around April 24, depending on weather conditions.

The project is important for maintaining local roads and infrastructure. The work will involve both gravel crushing and hauling, with operations running Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

During this period, residents can expect increased heavy truck traffic along 240th Street between Moingona Road and L Avenue (County Road R-18). The county said that if weather allows, the operations should last approximately eight to twelve days.

The annual gravel hauling is part of Boone County’s regular maintenance schedule. It aims to ensure road surfaces remain safe and functional for area drivers.

Officials encourage motorists in the affected areas to exercise caution during the duration of these activities.
