Iowa DOT announces lane closures on Iowa 9 in Osage starting June

0Comments

If you drive on Iowa 9 through Osage, be aware of an upcoming closure that may slow down your trip. Starting Monday, June 23, and continuing until early August, weather permitting, crews will work on a concrete pavement replacement project from Kirkwood Avenue to 1st Street in Osage. The project will be completed in stages, and Iowa 9 will be closed within the work zone.

During the pavement removal and storm sewer replacement portion of the project, access to entrances from Iowa 9 will not be available until a base layer of rock has been placed for the new roadway. Dumpsters will be placed on each end of the work zone for garbage collection. Residents and the postmaster will receive notifications before work begins. The contractor will also address any questions about the project.

When Iowa 9 is closed, through traffic will follow a marked detour route using Mitchell County Road T-26 and U.S. 218. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to “drive with caution,” obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and note that “traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.” Drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
