The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Washington welcome Mikayla Slechta to the team as the Outreach & Communications Coordinator.

Mikayla has been involved with the Chamber for a number of years. Her passion for the community and marketing landed her this brand new position supporting the tourism goals for the Washington area as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber.

In her spare time while working at the Washington State Bank, she found a new hobby and very quickly became passionate about creating polymer clay jewelry. From this, she was able to learn a considerable amount of advertising, marketing and social media techniques that will be of assistance as she takes on her new role.

“I truly believe this is where I am supposed to be,” said Mikayla. “I am very ready to start something new and getting more involved with the community.”

Mikayla is a Washington native and after a short stint in Wisconsin, she and her husband, Steven Slechta, missed home and made their way back. They now own their home that they have remodeled which was featured on the Tour of Homes back in 2019. As if remodeling a home wasn’t enough, they decided to put their hands to work renovating an older camper they now use quite often.
