Absentee voting has started in Boone County

Absentee ballots for the Special School Elections have been received, Philippe Meier, Boone county auditor and commissioner of elections, said.

Absentee ballots are being cast at the Boone County Courthouse, 201 State St., Boone, IA. Absentee voters can visit the courthouse between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to vote. Absentee voting ends March 2.  

If voters want to mail in their ballot, they must write a request for an absentee ballot. Forms to request a ballot by mail are located in the Auditor’s Office, the Boone County website and the Iowa Secretary of State’s website

All requests for ballots should have been mailed by Friday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. All ballots must be returned by March 2. 

On Feb. 28 and March 2, hours will be extended to 5 p.m. in the auditor’s office. 

The Special School Elections will be on March 3. The school districts that will be holding the elections are Boone Community School District, Madrid Community School District, United Community School District and Perry Community School District.
