Sherry enters race for Boone County Supervisor

Owner of The Sherry Group, LLC, Dave Sherry, is now in the race for Boone County Supervisor. 

Sherry said he would like to continue to invest in Boone County and watch relationships grow between the county and surrounding communities as well as growing the county’s tourism and economy, according to Boone Republican News. 

As the owner of The Sherry Group, LLC, he works with not-for-profits around the Iowa area and the country to make improvements in operational issues and for funding areas of need.

Sherry moved to Boone County in January of 2001 with his wife, Kate and his three children Dave, Hunter and Sierra. Hunter and Sierra were born in Boone County Hospital.

As a member of the county, he has served over 13 different committees. These include the Boone Community, the National Camping Community, National Standards Community, the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program Planning Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee.

He graduated from Middleton High School in 1990 and got his Recreation Management Degree from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. Afterward, he worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee Camp for two and a half years. He served as Camp Director at Camp Sturtevant. Under his leadership, the camp was able to raise funds for a new lodge.

In January 2001, he was assigned as the Executive Director of the Des Moines Y Camp, located in North Boone. He overlooked over $7 million worth of projects for the camp during his 18 years of employment. He received numerous accolades during this time including the YMCA Professional Financial Turn Around Award, The YMCA Professional Fundraising Award, American Camp Associations FISH award for leadership and the American Camp Association Distinguished Member award.
