Iowa state universities are asking all study abroad students to come back home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This includes students in a Level 3 designated country such as China, Iran, Italy and South Korea.

According to WHO TV, universities are also suspending spring break programs and suspending international travel for students for the next 30 days. Iowa State University will reimburse up to $1,200 in change flight fees for its students.

Sophomore Jackson Bridie said that he received an email to book a return flight home.

“It was kind of a stressing way to find out when we all woke up and figured out we were getting sent home,” Bridie said.

Students are allowed back on campus after completing a 14-day isolation period and show no symptoms of the novel coronavirus. All students, abroad or in-country, are to stay off-campus until after spring break. Iowa state universities are looking at ways to make sure their students don't fall behind in classes during the pandemic.
