City of Madrid issued the following announcement on Apr. 14.
The Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants beginning May 4, 2020 through May 22, 2020 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and some late evenings, Monday through Friday. This is part of our bi-annual water distribution system flushing program designed to ensure water quality and to check for proper operation of our fire hydrants. Customers may experience periodic discoloration in their water during these dates, however, do not be alarmed. The water (although unsightly) is safe to drink. We do ask that residents refrain from washing clothes (especially whites) during the specified dates and times, due to the potential of staining. We would also request that citizens not park vehicles near, in front of, or across from fire hydrants during these dates.
