The Ames Chamber of Commerce is taking steps to build relationships with minority-owned companies in Ames and Story County, according to the organization’s website.
As of June 19, it had already created a list of companies that were owned by minorities and planned to initiate contact to discover what programs could benefit them.
“Developing this list of minority-owned businesses is just the first step in opening a line of communication between the businesses and the Chamber,” said President and CEO of the commerce, Dan Culhane, according to the website. “We have a duty to ensure that our community is safe and inclusive for all and to support our business owners in any way possible.”
He added that the purpose of the list was to establish ongoing contact and communication with the business owners so the commerce can “learn how we can further support them in our community,” the website reported.
