The City of Ames recently announced that face coverings will now be required in city buildings which began on July 27.
City buildings include City Hall, the Ames Public Library and Ames City Auditorium. The Ames Parks and Recreation officials will also use some wisdom regarding face mask requirements as announced by health professionals.
Those that have physical or mental health conditions that would cause complications will not be required to wear face coverings.
Additionally, small children aren't required to wear face coverings. The Ames City Council approved the face coverings requirement for city buildings on July 21.
These measures align with those that the Iowa State University (ISU) campus already has in place. The City of Ames is teaming up with ISU to promote the importance of face coverings amid the battle against COVID-19. The face covering mandate is one of the four rules that promote healthy behaviors. The mandate is a part of the “Cyclones Care” public health campaign.
Travelers who partake in the CyRide and Ames public transit system will also be required to wear a face covering.
