City of Ames issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The center lanes of 13th Street between Wilson and Duff avenues will be closed in phases beginning Monday, Nov. 2, weather permitting. This closure is necessary to complete work involving the removal and replacement of the manholes at the centerline of 13th Street. The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct and its subcontractor, Keller Excavation, to complete these improvements.
The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will be from Wilson Avenue to Burnett Avenue, followed by the second phase from Burnett Avenue to Duff Avenue. Both phases of the project are expected to be complete within three to four weeks.
In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.
All are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. Exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
