City of Ames issued the following announcement on August 06.
The inside lanes of Duff Avenue from Ninth to 11th streets will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 9, to allow sanitary sewer repairs. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on the outside lanes. Access all sides streets, except for Ninth Street, will remain open. Work on the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 13.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 16, the west (southbound) lanes of Duff Avenue will be closed at 12th Street for sanitary sewer repairs. Traffic will be shifted to single-lane traffic in both directions on the east (northbound) lanes. Mary Greeley Medical Center ambulance garage drives and parking lot access will remain open. The pedestrian crossing at 12th Street will be closed, and access at the 12th Street and Duff Avenue intersection will be restricted to right turn only. The second phase of the project is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 20.
The City of Ames has contracted with Municipal Pipe Tool L.L.C to complete these improvements.
All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
