City of Ames recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Ames Climate Action Plan (CAP) will be the topic of discussion at the first EcoChat of 2022.
The monthly lecture series continues through June.
The EcoChat will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium at Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave.
The community is invited to participate in person or online.
The Zoom link will be posted at www.amespubliclibrary.org/events the day of the event.
City of Ames CAP project leaders will provide background on the community’s first CAP process, starting with a look back at our community’s commitment to sustainability through initiatives including our Resource Recovery Plant, glass recycling program, biodiesel initiative, SunSmart Community Solar farm, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory.
Project leaders will then discuss selecting and moving forward with consultant Sustainability Solutions Group, establishing a GHG reduction goal for Ames, and next steps in the CAP process.
Information on how to stay up to date on the process and how to get involved will also be provided.
EcoChats are a series of short, sustainability-themed lectures presented in partnership with the City of Ames and Ames Public Library.
