Ready to get back into the “Library Habit?”

Library(1000)

We’ve all lost old habits and formed new ones over the last two years and one of the habits that your family may have lost is visiting the public library regularly.  If that’s the case, we’ve missed you!

To help everyone get back into that “Library habit” again, your library staff have been busy putting regular recurring programming back into place—some of these programs you may have participated in the past, some are brand new and we hope your family will enjoy them.

For our youngest children, Wee Read on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. is back in full swing and we look forward to seeing families with toddlers and preschoolers again for stories, songs and fun with Miss Jo!  Our children’s playroom is also open and available for free play until noon after Wee Read.

For students, we’ll be offering the following programs:

  • Lego Club meets on Monday afternoons from 4 to 5 through the end of May for students in grades K-5th. Drop in for both structured and free play with Legos.
  • Tinker Tuesdays happens on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 through the end of April. This program for grades K-5th features many hands-on activities including experiments, art and ideas to tinker with.
  • FriYay Fun days: Watch our calendar for a variety of programming for kids in grades K-6th on early release days.
  • Manga/Anime Club meets on Wednesday from 4-5 for students in grades 6-12. Watch Anime. Read Manga.  Learn about Japanese culture and so much more!
Adults are not left out!  Our noon concert series is back on Thursdays and our goal is to have at least 2 concerts on a monthly basis so check the Library’s calendar frequently to see what we have scheduled.  A new program series we’ve started is “Tuesday @ 2.”  Lifelong learners can join us for unique, interesting topics, often presented by our own community members.  Have an idea for a program?  Want to share your story or skills?  Stop by and talk to us.  In addition, we have the following programs for adults (since times may vary, check our calendar for the right day and time):

  • Writer’s Workshop: 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 am. Hear a presentation on craft from a practicing writer and bring your latest work to share with the group.
  • Monday movies: On the last Monday of the month, join us for popcorn and a classic movie.
  • Book clubs: Like to talk about books?  We do too!
  • Sticks & Strings: Bring your needlework project and join us on Fridays.
  • Happy Ukulele Group: Whether you want to learn to play the ukulele or are already a talented player, we’ve got a group for you.
In addition to our program series, we also have special programs occurring throughout the month so be sure to check our calendar regularly at http://www.washington.lib.ia.us/events. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
