Work to relocate several power poles and related overhead lines at the intersection of South Duff Avenues and South 16th Street will take place over the next several weeks. Lane closures on the outside eastbound lanes of South 16th Street, both east and west of Duff Avenue, will be necessary when poles are being set. These lane closures are expected to be intermittent over the next two to three weeks.
Ames Electric Services has contracted with IES Commercial and Industrial and its subcontractors to complete this relocation project, which includes installation of power poles, overhead wire, and power transfers. The relocation is needed prior to the upcoming South Duff Avenue and South 16th Street intersection improvements.
All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays will occur. Please use alternate routes if available. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through the construction area.
