Due to a significant shortage of bus drivers, CyRide will be operating break service only on Saturdays and Sundays starting on Sunday, August 21. This means the shaded lines on the bus schedule will not run on Saturdays and Sundays during the upcoming school year. Moonlight Express will still operate Friday and Saturday nights when Iowa State University is in session.

“Reducing services is not a decision that CyRide takes lightly. Temporarily removing trips on weekends is being done only as a last resort to preserve other services and avoid unpredictable missed trips that could potentially strand passengers,” said Assistant Director of Operations Christine Crippen. “We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize for the schedule change. As the hiring situation changes over the semester, CyRide will evaluate this decision and work toward restoring normal weekend service as soon as staffing levels allow.”
With limited drivers, additional temporary service reductions are being considered to maintain service. CyRide is also actively working to hire new Transit Operators. In July, starting pay rate increased to $17.51, with a hiring bonus of $1,000. No prior experience is required.
