Hoover Avenue Closed to Through Traffic from 24th to 28th Streets

Hoover Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 24th to 28th streets beginning Monday, Sept. 12, weather permitting, to allow for road reconstruction. Sidewalks in this area will also be closed.

The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts Inc. for the phased reconstruction and rehabilitation of Hoover Avenue from 24th Street to Top O Hollow Road. This phase of the project will include full removal of the existing pavement from 24th Street north to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by placement of new pavement on this section of Hoover Avenue.

This phase of the project is expected to take three to four weeks to complete. Following completion of this phase, pavement removal and reconstruction will progress north in sections to 30th Street. Hoover Avenue north of 30th Street will be milled and overlayed in spring 2023.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays will occur. Please use alternate routes if available. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through the construction area.

For more information, contact Dean Sayre, Civil Engineer II, at dean.sayre@cityofames.org or 515.239.5277. For general construction updates, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/Construction.
