Mayor John Haila is looking for Ames residents interested in volunteering their time to serve on a City board or commission.
Board and commission members make recommendations to the Ames City Council and offer assistance to the Council in carrying out various forms and functions of City government. There are 21 separate boards and commissions, which focus on distinct issues, programs, or services.
“Volunteering time on a City of Ames board or commission is an excellent way to become more involved and make a difference in our community,” said Haila. “We realize it’s not easy to fit time to volunteer into already busy schedules, so we very much appreciate those residents who are able to make the commitment.”
Volunteers interested in filling a vacancy have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, to complete an application. Visit www.CityOfAmes.org/BoardsAndCommissions for more information about specific boards, applications, and appointment criteria.
