Ames Fire Department is partnering with the American Society of Safety Professionals (Iowa State University Chapter) to distribute free combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. These detectors will be delivered during the weekend of March 25 to owner-occupied homes in selected areas of Ames. Door hangers will be mailed to eligible households prior to the giveaway with information on requesting contactless delivery or help with installation, or to decline the offer.
“From our experience here in Ames, we know that working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors provide that essential warning to escape potential tragedies,” said Deputy Fire Chief Karen Tapper. “Thanks to the generous donation from Johnston Supply, we are able to provide these lifesaving detectors to homeowners in need in Ames.”
For more information on the giveaway, please contact Karen Tapper, Deputy Fire Chief, at 515.239.5412 or karen.tapper@cityofames.org.
