City Hall and most City departments and divisions, including Ames Public Library, Resource Recovery Plant, the Community Center, and Ames/ISU Ice Arena, will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in recognition of Independence Day. In addition, there will be no CyRide service on Tuesday, July 4.
Fireworks, sponsored by Discover Ames, will be held after dusk generally around 9:45 p.m.) on Monday, July 3, near Jack Trice Stadium. Due to construction in the Iowa State Center lots, several parking lots previously available for parking during fireworks will be closed. It is important to remember that lighting fireworks within Ames city limits is illegal. Those who are caught exploding fireworks in Ames could face a simple misdemeanor charge with a minimum fine of not less than $250.
The Fourth of July parade on Main Street, sponsored by Downtown Ames, will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
Homewood Golf Course will be open on Tuesday, July 4. Make tee time reservations online at www.amesparkrec.org.
