The seventh annual Rummage RAMPage will be held from Friday, July 28 (donations only, no sales) through Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave. Rummage RAMPage is a week-long community garage sale that sells donated items and is staffed by volunteers representing non-profit organizations.

A partnership project between the City of Ames and the Iowa State University Office of Sustainability, Rummage RAMPage grew from the desire to repurpose items often left on the curb during the mid-summer move out and lease changeovers in Ames. The event strives to keep usable items out of the landfill. All proceeds from the sale are distributed back to the non-profit groups who send volunteers. More than 40 area non-profit organizations have signed up to assist in this year’s event. Anyone is welcome to donate or shop.

Those who have an immediate need to donate usable items should contact area second-hand stores for information. Those who want to donate items immediately to Rummage RAMPage can bring usable items to the Resource Recovery Plant, 410 E. Second St. The cost is $10 per carload and $25 per truckload to store items until the sale.

Those who want items picked up for Rummage RAMPage can schedule pick-up on Friday, July 28 or Saturday, July 29 for a fee. These fees are directed back to community non-profit organizations. For curbside pick-up, fees start at $15 for Iowa State students and $25 for residents. There is additional pricing for extra-large items, going into homes, and making multiple pick-ups at the same address. Payment is required in advance of service.
