The seventh annual Rummage RAMPage begins on Friday, July 28, with donations being accepted. Sales begin on Saturday, July 29, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave. The City of Ames, in partnership with the ISU Office of Sustainability, hosts this community garage sale designed to keep reusable items out of the waste stream.

The event grew from the desire to repurpose items often left on the curb during the annual move out and lease changeovers, and to keep these items out of the landfill. Rummage RAMPage works by selling items that are donated. Volunteers from local non-profit groups will help run the sale and share in any profit.

This year’s event hours are:

Item Drop-off ONLY

• Friday, July 28, noon - 6 p.m.

Sales and Drop-off

• Saturday, July 29, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
• Sunday, July 30, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
• Monday – Friday, July 31 - Aug. 4, noon - 6 p.m.

Half-Price Sales (no drop-off)

• Saturday, Aug. 5, 8 a.m. - noon

Donations may be dropped off at the Intermodal Facility from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 28, and during sale hours through Friday, Aug. 4. No donations will be accepted on the last day of the sale, Saturday, Aug. 5.

Those who have an immediate need to donate usable items should contact area second-hand stores for information. Those who want to donate items immediately to Rummage RAMPage can bring usable items to the Resource Recovery Plant, 410 E. Second St. The cost is $10 per carload and $25 per truckload to store items until the sale. 

Those who want items picked up for Rummage RAMPage can schedule pick-up on Friday, July 28, or Saturday, July 29, for a fee. These fees are directed back to community non-profit organizations. For curbside pick-up, fees start at $15 for Iowa State students and $25 for residents. There is additional pricing for extra-large items, going into homes, and making multiple pick-ups at the same address. The deadline to sign up for pick-up is 5 p.m. Monday, July 24. Payment is required by 5 p.m. on the day before scheduled pick-up.
