Erich Kretzinger | Boone County Board of Supervisors
Erich Kretzinger, incumbent member of the Boone County Board of Supervisors, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his at-large seat for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on June 4.
Per a sample ballot, Kretzinger is running for re-election in the GOP primary against Twila Ingham, Scott Longhorn, Evan Sinclair, Corey Stockman, and Dave Youngren. Voters may vote for up to two candidates.
Kretzinger currently serves as Chair of the Board of Supervisors.
According to the Boone County Board, Kretzinger was first elected to the Board in 2020 and that in 2022, the Iowa State Association of County Supervisors designated him as a Certified Iowa County Supervisor, Boone County's first.
During his first term, Kretzinger was a proponent of creating a user-friendly County website and greater communication and transparency with Boone County residents, as well as improving coordination and communication with city governments to help lower costs, according to a post on his Facebook page.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Kretzinger, saying his "dedication to safeguarding private property rights and [his] commitment to fiscal prudence are exactly what our communities in Iowa need to thrive. We believe [his] leadership will not only promote transparency and accountability but also enhance economic opportunities for all citizens.”
According to the Boone County Board of Supervisors' website, the Board "has the authority to adopt legislation, set County operating policies, approve the annual budget for all departments and functions, and is the only entity that can enter contractual obligations on behalf of the County." The Board comprises three members who are elected in countywide elections and serve four-year terms.
