City of Ames issued the following announcement on Apr. 24.
Construction on the shared use path in Daley Park will begin on Tuesday, April 28, weather permitting. This project was originally scheduled for construction last fall. However, a wet fall followed by an early winter delayed the project until now.
The City of Ames has contracted with Manatt’s Inc., to remove and replace the path from Wilder Boulevard to Thackeray Avenue. This project is expected to be complete within two weeks.
The shared use path will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrians will be detoured along sidewalks on Wilder Boulevard and Thackeray Avenue. All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity and exercise caution when near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.
