A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened in Ames on Sept. 29 to give options to those affected by the Aug. 10 storm.
The center, which is opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Monday through Friday, will have staff to help process disaster assistance applications, scan documents and answer questions about disaster assistance programs, according to a press release from the City of Ames.
It will be a drive-thru only service and those looking for help are required to stay in their car and wear a face mask while being helped. All staff members will also be required to wear masks and other personal protective equipment.
"Those affected by the storm who have already registered with FEMA and have been asked to provide additional documentation should read their FEMA letter carefully and make sure they have everything they need when they arrive at the DRC," the city said in the press release.
The DRC is located in North River Valley Park at 725 E. 13 St.
Applicants can also submit their documents for their applications online, by mail or fax. More information on turning in documents one of these three ways can be found online.
