Rummage RAMPage is Back Starting July 30; Donate, Shop, Volunteer!

Rummage

City of Ames issued the following announcement on July 22.

After cancellation of the event in 2020 due to the pandemic, the annual Rummage RAMPage is back! The community sale will be held from Friday, July 30, through Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave. The City of Ames, in partnership with the ISU Office of Sustainability, hosts this community garage sale designed to keep reusable items out of the waste stream. The event grew from the desire to repurpose items often left on the curb during the annual move out and lease changeovers, and to keep these items out of the landfill. Rummage RAMPage works by selling items that are donated. Volunteers from local non-profit groups help run the sale and share in any profit.

This year’s event hours are as follows:

Item Drop-off ONLY

  • Friday, July 30, noon - 6 p.m.
Sales and Drop-off

  • Saturday, July 31, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 1, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Thursday, Aug. 5, noon - 6 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 6, noon - 6 p.m.
Half-Price Sales (no drop-off)

  • Saturday, Aug. 7, 8 a.m. - noon
Donations may be dropped off at the Intermodal Facility from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 30, and during sale hours from Saturday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 6. No donations will be accepted on the last day of the sale, Saturday, Aug. 7.

A few shifts are still available for volunteers to staff the event. Interested volunteers can sign up through Sunday, July 25 at  https://tinyurl.com/RummageRampage2021

Rummage RAMPage is again partnering with the Ames Animal Shelter, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Wildlife Center, Story County Animal Shelter, and Story County Conservation, to provide the opportunity for pet owners to drop off pets they are no longer able to care for or cannot move to a new residence, rather than releasing them into the wild. Rehome our Animals/Aquariums Responsibly (ROAR) can accept animals and plants including fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, invertebrates and aquarium plants certain days during the event.

For dogs, cats, or other domestic animals, rehoming is best done through contacting the Ames Animal Shelter (515.239.5530) or the Story County Animal Shelter (515.382.3338). Residents are encouraged to contact these agencies as soon as possible with animal rehoming concerns to ensure a safe transition for pets.
