Reconstruction of Hoover Avenue continues with curb, gutter, sidewalk, and driveway removal and replacement on the west side of Hoover Avenue from 30th Street to Bloomington Road beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Through traffic will be maintained throughout this stage of the project; however, the west sidewalk will be closed. This stage of the project is expected to take one to two weeks.
The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts Inc. and its subcontractor Con-Struct for the Hoover Avenue reconstruction project from 24th Street to Top O Hollow Road. The project will include full reconstruction of the existing roadway surface, along with improvements to sanitary and storm sewer utilities, curb and gutter, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk ramps.
All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays will occur. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes if available. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through the construction area.
