The Ames Parks and Recreation Department will present a free livestream of the Des Moines Symphony’s season opening concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Bandshell Park, Sixth Street and Duff Avenue. Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to sit on.
Ames is one of three locations chosen for this special event, in partnership with the Des Moines Symphony and funded by the Harriet S. and J. Locke Macomber Des Moines Symphony Fund. The concert will feature the works of Gershwin, Rodrigo, and Ravel. Internationally renowned guitarist Sharon Isbin will be the guest soloist.
“This will be a fantastic evening of music, and we are grateful for the opportunity to provide this event for our community members at no cost,” said Craig Kaufman, Auditorium, Bandshell and Community Center Manager. More information about the event can be found online at the Ames City Auditorium and Durham Bandshell Facebook page.
