The results of the Grand Avenue Intersections Improvement Study will be presented to the Ames City Council as part of its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 25. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Ames Council Chambers, second floor of Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
The Grand Avenue Intersections Improvement Study focused on the operations of Grand Avenue through the key intersections between Ninth and 24th Streets. The presentation considers lane configurations and dimensions, multi-modal improvements, and safety improvements that could be incorporated into future capital improvement projects at these key intersections. The study includes resident feedback from an open house held in April.
“Grand Avenue is one of the most heavily traveled streets in Ames,” said Civil Engineer Mark Gansen. “Making improvements to intersections along this corridor involves balancing the needs of neighbors, motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and others to develop a successful transportation route that works for everyone.”
The City Council will be listening to a presentation of the report at this meeting, and no action is expected.
