East Lincoln Way Closed Week | City of Ames

East Lincoln Way, from Teller Avenue (580th Street) to Potter Avenue (590th Street), will close to traffic during the week of Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, weather permitting, and remain closed for three to four months. The closure is necessary to begin work on the next phase of new utilities for the Prairie View Industrial Center.

Keller Excavating is nearing completion on Teller Avenue work and will continue the deep trenching operation along East Lincoln Way. With trenching extending as deep 25 feet during winter road conditions, this closure is necessary to ensure both the safety of the workers on site and the traveling public. Teller Ave will be reopened for north and south traffic.

This phase of the project will include installation of water main and sanitary sewer along the north side of East Lincoln Way from Teller Avenue (580th Street) to Potter Avenue (590th Street). Although roads will be closed during trenching operations, access will be maintained for residents.

Motorists are encouraged to be aware of construction in the area and to allow for extra travel time or consider using alternative routes. Those who use the signed detour route should follow posted speed limits. Speeds along East Lincoln Way will be reduced during active construction.

Developed by Alliant Energy and the Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC), in partnership with the City of Ames, Prairie View Industrial Center features approximately 1,200 acres located within the city limits of Ames. Prairie View offers a strategic location with convenient access to U.S. Highway 30 and Interstate 35 and an option for Union Pacific Railroad access.
