Two public information meetings on the City of Ames Water System Improvement Program for Highway 69/South Duff Avenue and for Grand Avenue originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22, have been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 1, due to the inclement weather forecast for tomorrow.

  • The Highway 69/South Duff Avenue meeting has been rescheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, in Room 135 at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
  • The Grand Avenue meeting has been rescheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, in Room 135 at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
This water system improvement project includes installing larger distribution mains in areas that have a large concentration of 4-inch supply lines, transferring water services from 4-inch water mains in streets where larger mains exist, and abandoning 4-inch water mains. The project will be funded entirely by City funds and not through property owner assessment. The project is intended to be constructed during the 2023 construction season.

The public is invited to attend the appropriate meeting to review the scope of the project, ask questions, and provide feedback about potential concerns during construction such as access and work hours. The meeting will be an open house come-and-go format with no formal presentation planned. Those unable to attend or who have questions and comments should contact Cesar Cintron, Civil Engineer II, at cesar.cintron@cityofames.org or 515.239.5436.
