The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries will be stocking approximately 2,000 rainbow trout in the north lake of Ada Hayden Heritage Park around noon on Saturday, April 1. The trout stocking will take place near the boat ramp on the north side of the park.
The stocking of trout at Ada Hayden Heritage Park has been taking place for more than 10 years, and the goal of the stocking is to provide opportunities for individuals to catch trout who may not have the opportunity to travel to northeast Iowa to discover trout fishing.
The popular program is supported by the sales of the trout fee. Anglers need a valid fishing license and pay the trout fee to fish for or possess trout. The daily limit is five trout per licensed angler with a possession limit of 10. Children ages 15 or younger can fish for trout with a properly licensed adult, but they must limit their catch to one daily limit. More information regarding State of Iowa fishing regulations is available at www.iowadnr.gov/trout.
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 38 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are provided year-round at the Community Center and Ames/ISU Ice Arena. For more information, go to www.amesparkrec.org or call the Community Center at 515.239.5350.
