The northeast corner of the Stange Road and 24th Street intersection will close for removal and replacement on Tuesday, May 16, weather permitting. Northbound traffic past 24th Street will shift to single lane traffic on the southbound lanes of Stange Road. Northbound traffic will shift back to the northbound lanes at Bristol Drive.

At the intersection of Stange Road and 24th Street, traffic will be redirected to new pavement in the southeast corner. Additionally, the crosswalk on the north and east side of the intersection will be closed while the crosswalk on the west and south side of the intersection will be open. This phase is anticipated to take two weeks.

The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct for the reconstruction of Stange Road and 24th Street. This will be a two-year project with construction on Stange Road in 2023 and on 24th Street in 2024. Stange Road will be reconstructed in three main stages. Stage 1 is the two northbound lanes of Stange.

Stage 2 is the turn lane at the 24th Street intersection, and Stage 3 will be the southbound lanes of Stange Road. For more project information, please visit the project information webpage at www.CityOfAmes.org/stange.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are encouraged to take note of this construction activity and use alternate routes if possible. The work zone will have low speeds and narrow lanes. Use caution when traveling in the area and allow extra travel time as delays will occur. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.

For more information, contact Dean Sayre, Civil Engineer II, at dean.sayre@cityofames.org  or 515.239.5277. For general construction updates, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/Construction.
