Iowa State University's women's soccer team will face the University of Cincinnati in an away match at Gettler Stadium on October 30 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Cyclones, currently holding a 4-8-3 overall record and 1-7-1 in Big 12 play, are seeking their second positive result in their last three matches. Cincinnati enters the match with a 4-7-6 overall record and 2-5-2 in conference play.

In their previous game, Iowa State narrowly lost to No. 24 West Virginia, 1-0. The Cyclones created several early opportunities but were unable to convert before West Virginia scored the deciding goal in the 22nd minute.

Cincinnati recently defeated Oklahoma State 1-0, marking their third positive result in the last five matches. The Bearcats are tied for the most draws in the Big 12 with six and have scored the fewest goals among the 16 teams in the conference, with a total of 12 goals this season.

Several Iowa State players have made notable contributions this year. Megan Walters has scored three goals, tying her for the most by a Cyclone freshman since 2016. The team achieved back-to-back games with four or more goals for the first time since 1999 and recorded a four-goal second half against UNI on September 11, a feat not matched since 2012.

Lucy Froitzheim scored a late equalizer against Drake with only 30 seconds remaining, setting a program record for the latest game-tying goal. The Cyclones secured their 200th program win with a victory over Creighton on August 21, with Isabella Agrusso scoring the decisive goal in the 89th minute. The team's three-game unbeaten streak to start the season was its longest such stretch since 2013.

Ten Cyclones have registered points so far this season, and the team has had at least ten point scorers in each of the last three years. Iowa State was predicted to finish 14th in the Big 12 preseason poll but has exceeded expectations in each of the past two seasons. With changes to the Big 12 Championship qualification process, reducing participating teams from twelve to eight, Iowa State faces a challenge as it aims to qualify for the tournament for the first time since 2021.

On offense, three Cyclones—Ella Zimmerman, Megan Walters, and Taylr Spitzer—each have three goals this season, with Spitzer and Walters leading the team with seven points each. Freshman Sophie Forrester has also scored multiple goals, and nine different players have scored this year. Goalkeeper Kasey Cannistraro has started all 15 matches, allowing 23 goals and making 64 saves, including two clean sheets and a combined shutout.

Cincinnati's top performers include Rylee Felton and Coley Sidloski, who each have two goals and two assists, leading the team with six points apiece. Goalkeeper Camryn Miller has played every minute this season, recording a 1.18 goals-against average, seven shutouts, and 65 saves.

This meeting marks the third time Iowa State and Cincinnati have played, with Cincinnati holding a 1-0-1 series advantage. The last meeting in Cincinnati ended in a 1-0 win for the Bearcats in 2023.

After facing Cincinnati, Iowa State will conclude its regular season against Kansas State on October 30 in Manhattan, Kansas, with the match available to stream on ESPN+.
