Brookridge Avenue between Lee and Sixth streets will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday, May 30, to begin work on underground utilities improvements. Access will be allowed for residents only. Sidewalks will be open.

The City of Ames has contracted with Shekar Engineering for this project, which will include replacement of storm sewer intakes, upsizing of pipe in between intakes, and replacement of sanitary sewer manholes. The project is expected to take five to six days to complete.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time to detour around the work zone. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling near construction zones. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.

For more information, contact Hafiz Ibrahim, Civil Engineer II, at abdelhafiz.ibrahim@cityofames.org or 515.239.5245. For general construction updates, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/Construction
