UPDATED START DATE

The two southbound lanes of Stange Road will be paved on Saturday, July 8. To ensure the safety of the traveling public and workers onsite, the current single southbound lane of Stange Road south of 24th Street will be closed for one day, from Saturday morning, July 8, until Sunday morning, July 9. A single lane for northbound traffic will remain open.

Southbound traffic on Stange Road north of 24th Street must turn east onto 24th Street and use Northwestern or Grand avenues as a temporary detour. Northbound traffic on Stange Road can continue north or turn east on 24th Street.

The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct for the reconstruction of Stange Road and 24th Street. This will be a two-year project with construction on Stange Road in 2023 and on 24th Street in 2024.

For more project information, please visit the project information webpage at www.CityOfAmes.org/stange.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are encouraged to take note of this construction activity and use alternate routes if possible. Follow the signed detour route for the George Washington Carver Avenue and Stange Road intersection closure. The work zone will have low speeds and narrow lanes. Use caution when traveling in the area and allow extra travel time as delays will occur. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.

For more information, contact Dean Sayre, Civil Engineer II, at dean.sayre@cityofames.org  or 515.239.5277. For general construction updates, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/Construction
