If you travel on U.S. 30 near Ogden, be aware of an upcoming road closure that may affect your journey. The Iowa Department of Transportation's Jefferson construction office has announced that from June 16 to August 15, weather permitting, U.S. 30 will be closed from the Greene/Boone County line east to Ogden for a concrete overlay project. This closure will also impact U.S. 169 in the area.
The project includes safety improvements at the west junction of U.S. 30/U.S. 169, with plans to reconstruct the intersection by adding an eastbound left-turn lane from U.S. 30 to northbound U.S. 169 and expanding the right-turn lane from westbound U.S. 30 to northbound U.S. 169.
During the closures, traffic will follow a marked detour using U.S. 169, Boone/Greene County Road E-57, Iowa 144, and Boone/Greene County Road E-26.
The Iowa DOT advises motorists to drive cautiously, obey speed limits and signs in work zones, and remember that traffic fines are doubled in these areas. Drivers should stay alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
