If you travel on Interstate 35, I-80, and I-235 near the Northeast Mixmaster in Iowa, be prepared for overnight closures of ramps and roadways. The Iowa Department of Transportation's Grimes Construction office has announced these closures will occur on June 16 and 17.

The specific closure times are from 10 p.m. on Monday, June 16, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, and again from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 18. During these periods, eastbound I-80 will be closed between the Northeast Mixmaster and U.S. 65 bypass. Drivers will need to follow a marked detour via westbound I-235 to Euclid Avenue, then east on Euclid Avenue to Hubbell Avenue, and north on Hubbell Avenue to I-80.

Additionally, northbound U.S. 65 will be closed between Hubbell Avenue and I-80 with a detour provided north on Hubbell Avenue to reach I-80.

On Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, eastbound I-80/I-35 between U.S. 69/NE 14th Street and the Northeast Mixmaster will close along with westbound I-235 between the Northeast Mixmaster and Euclid Avenue. The detour for this closure involves using I-80/I-35 westbound, U.S. 69/NE 14th Street, Euclid Avenue, and eastbound I-235.

In case of weather delays on either night, closures may extend to Wednesday or Thursday nights.

Motorists are advised by the Iowa DOT to drive cautiously in work zones where traffic fines are doubled for moving violations. It is recommended that drivers stay alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
