Iowa State will face Colorado in a Big 12 women’s soccer matchup on September 25 at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colorado. The Cyclones enter the game with a 4-1-2 record overall and are coming off their longest winning streak since 2016. Their recent win against Arizona marked their first conference victory of the season and extended their run to three consecutive wins.

The Cyclones have not defeated the Buffaloes since 2001. Iowa State opened its Big 12 campaign last Sunday with a narrow 1-0 win over Arizona, starting conference play with a victory for the second straight year—something that last happened in the 2006/07 seasons.

Colorado, currently at 6-1-2, began its own conference schedule with a draw against Kansas State, recording its third shutout of the season but failing to score for the second time in three matches.

Several milestones have been reached by Iowa State this season. The team scored four goals in the second half against Northern Iowa on September 11—the most in any half by an Iowa State squad since 2012—and followed up with another four-goal performance versus North Dakota. Lucy Froitzheim netted a late equalizer against Drake, marking the latest game-tying goal in program history. Additionally, Isabella Agrusso’s goal secured Iowa State’s 200th program win over Creighton.

Center back Ella Zimmerman leads Iowa State’s scoring with three goals from set pieces and six total points. Morgan Goodman and Taylor Spitzer have each contributed two goals this season. Ten different Cyclones have registered points so far this year.

Goalkeeper Kasey Cannistraro has started all seven games for Iowa State, conceding five goals and earning two clean sheets while making 25 saves.

On offense, Colorado is led by Hope Leyba (nine goals) and Jace Holley (eight goals), forming one of the top-scoring duos nationally. Emerson Layne leads Colorado in assists with five, just ahead of Holley’s four. Goalkeeper Jordan Nytes has recorded three shutouts and leads the conference with 31 saves.

Colorado holds a strong advantage historically over Iowa State, leading the series 15-2-1 and remaining unbeaten since their last loss to ISU in 2001.

After facing Colorado, Iowa State will return home to host Texas Tech on September 28 at Ames; that match will be available via ESPN+ streaming.
