Iowa State tennis earns five wins during home tournament

The Iowa State women's tennis team secured five wins on the second day of its home tournament in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones finished with a 2-0 record in doubles matches and went 2-1 in singles, excluding a match played between two Iowa State teammates.

In singles play, Suzanie Pretorius continued her unbeaten streak for the season by defeating Arkansas' Arina Babenko with scores of 6-2, 7-5. Kira Smith also earned a win, overcoming Kansas State's Mallory Renfro 6-1, 6-2. Gabriela Felix won against fellow Cyclone Valeska San Martin Ramirez, finishing 6-4, 6-1. Gabriella Kellner lost her singles match to Alexandra Panagiotidou from Arkansas.

In doubles competition, Pretorius and Kellner achieved their first victory as partners by beating Babenko and Panagiotidou from Arkansas in a close match that ended 8-7 (6). San Martin and Felix completed the doubles sweep for Iowa State by defeating Mallory and Addison Renfro from Kansas State without dropping a game, finishing 8-0.

The Cyclones will return to the court on Sunday morning for the final day of the Cyclone Invite.
