Three athletes from the Iowa State women's tennis team have advanced to Sunday matches at the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Oklahoma. On Saturday, Ashlee Narker secured a place in the singles quarterfinals, while Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko moved forward to the doubles semifinals.
Narker started her day with a straight-sets victory over Kansas' Meg McCarty, 6-3, 6-1. She then defeated No. 79 Salakthip Ounmang from Oklahoma in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, earning a spot in Sunday's quarterfinal round. Alberto Vilar was eliminated from singles competition after losing her Round of 32 match.
In doubles play, Shulzhenko and Alberto Vilar overcame Nebraska's Reya Coe and Yuzu Miyoshi with an 8-2 win to advance to the semifinals on Sunday.
On Sunday, all three Cyclones will compete against players from Arkansas. Narker is set to face Carolina Gomez Alonso in singles, while Shulzhenko and Alberto Vilar will meet No. 27 Chloe Noel and Gloriana Nahum in doubles.
