Ernst targeted by Democratic 'dark money' group, state GOP chairman says

The Democratic party has continued its attack on first-term Republican U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst with another attempt to discredit her health-care record.

A new development has featured state Sen. Claire Celsi, D-Des Moines, who seeks to undermine Ernst on Twitter.

A post published on the Iowa GOP website states, “Dark money groups like Iowa Forward have already spent or reserved more than $1 million in desperate, disingenuous TV attacks against Joni Ernst.”

Both Ernst and Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley have worked to further legislation that improves access to quality health care, according to the post.

“Hypocrisy is on full display today as Democrats are literally standing with a group funded by dark money and secret donors,” Jeff Kaufmann, Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, said in the post. “Democrats are desperate and as such, have resorted to outright false distortions. Iowans know that Senators Ernst and Grassley are standing up for them and working to ensure health care is affordable and accessible for all.”
