The Iowa State Cyclones women's swimming and diving team secured a 168-123 victory over the University of South Dakota Coyotes on Friday in Vermillion, South Dakota. The Cyclones dominated the meet, winning nearly every event, with notable performances from their relay teams, distance swimmers, and breaststroke specialists.

"The Cyclones showed up today," said head coach Matt Leach. "We came out strong and finished every event very well. We had multiple people step up, including our double event winners; Kendall Mallers, Anja Peck, Carlotta Gazzola, Lili Neisser and Kate Mitchell."

The meet began with Iowa State winning the 400 medley relay. The team of Emma Kuhn, Matilde Geromin, Keirlyn Mullica, and Corinne Guist finished first with a time of 3:54.69. The Cyclones also won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.90, swum by Hagen, Neisser, Swoboda, and Kuhn.

In the backstroke events, Lili Neisser took first place in both the 100 backstroke (57.22) and the 200 backstroke (2:05.77). Emma Kuhn won the 200 individual medley in 2:06.56 and contributed to the relay victories.

The breaststroke events saw Anja Peck win both the 100 breaststroke (1:04.85) and the 200 breaststroke (2:18.53). Grace Swoboda finished second in both events, while Matilde Geromin took third in each, highlighting the team's depth in this discipline.

On the diving boards, Kate Mitchell led with wins in both the 1-meter (274.80) and 3-meter (281.70) events. Maggie Bendell finished second in both events. Ally Blumenfeld and Jade Hazes also contributed strong performances.

"The continued drive to work the fundamentals and execution was on full display today," Leach said. "Learning how to race and deliver was also an improvement from earlier in the season! It was a great weekend for Cyclone Nation! Go Cyclones!"

The Cyclones will next compete at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City from November 18 to 21.
